About the book

The Method is Book 2 of the Cardioimmunology collection. The Treatise on Cardioimmunology is in preparation. It examines how knowledge is built in cardioimmunology: how a result supports a proposition, how a cause is established, how sources are read and evidence is constructed. It also shows how a conclusion can be kept, restricted or revised.

The book moves from the foundations of medical knowledge to inflammation and experimental models, the testing of hypotheses through treatments, including the lessons of negative trials, the connections between systems and measurements and the formation and transmission of medical judgment.

The book includes a methodological analysis of the 2025 guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology. Each commentary distinguishes what is established, what remains plausible and what cannot be concluded.

A PLURAL READING

Four readings for each text

Critical reading
What does the comparison allow?
Measures, bias, uncertainty
Immunological reading
What is the explanation worth?
Mechanism, context, alternatives
Cardiological reading
What scope for the heart?
Diagnosis, prognosis, treatment
Integrative clinical reading
What does it change for the person?
Priorities, other diseases, care pathway
Judgment common to the four readings: keep, restrict or revise the conclusion.
